Type of Project- Whole House Remodel

Location- NW Oklahoma City

Year of Construction- 1994

Original Goals for this Project:  Our Client's for this project bought this home as a VA repossessed property and therefore could afford to invest a substantial amount to update the otherwise outdated look of their new home.  There were though, two major problems with this home, other than the outdated colors, this included a small Dining room with no daylight and a Master Bedroom where the majority of the ceiling was at a 7' height.  In the following photos see how our creative design ideas transformed this home.

Before, Kitchen
The existing Kitchen, well... the photo speaks for itself!!!

After, Kitchen
For this remodel, we felt it was not necessary to replace all the Kitchen cabinetry, so we replaced a couple of sections and remodeled the rest with new raised panel doors, new drawer and door hardware and then we installed the beautiful black granite counter tops.  Also note how dramatic the new Kitchen becomes with the larger window, new skylights and updated lighting.

Before, Master Bedroom
Although not clearly seen in this photo, after stepping up on the raised area the ceiling height at that point was only 7' and the railing, we never were quite sure what that was for (must have been something popular when the house was built).

After, Master Bedroom
This photo speaks for itself with obvious changes like the raised ceiling and the railing having been removed but we would like to point out how installing the wood floor on the step up area gave a visual purpose for this raised area.

Before, Living Room
Heavy, dark woodwork, insufficient lighting both natural and man made are "again" just some of the problems we encountered with this room.

After, Living Room
Taller windows that match the slope of the ceiling, lightened woodwork on the walls and beams and elegant hardwood floors, these elements combine to create an exciting new look.

Before, Formal Dining Room
Believe it or not, this photo was taken at midday.  This room was located in the middle of the residence and as such it didn't have an exterior window, as a matter of fact the hanging chandelier was its only source of light!

After, Formal Dining Room
We know as builder's we cannot install windows where there is no exterior wall but we can install skylights and artificial lighting.  As you can see in this photo, the new recessed lighting creates an elegant look at night, and we promise, with the new triple skylights there is no need for any light fixtures during the day.
